Welcome to Get Connected!

Welcome to Get Connected, the official volunteer platform for Saginaw County Animal Care & Control! This is your one-stop location for volunteer opportunities, training, scheduling, important documents, and updates. Our goal is to make volunteering simple, organized, and enjoyable.

If you are a brand new user and would like to volunteer with us, go to the top of the page and click "Sign Up" before you do anything further! Please make sure you answer every question and sign the forms at the end.

You may need to check your Spam folder for emails!

Please make sure your contact information is always up to date so we can keep you informed about volunteer opportunities and important shelter updates.

Opportunities

Select Opportunities from the menu to browse available volunteer shifts and activities.

Each opportunity includes:

  • A description of the volunteer role
  • The program it belongs to
  • Available dates and times
  • Any required qualifications or prerequisites

To register, simply select the shift you'd like to attend and click Respond.

Some opportunities require specific training or qualifications before you can participate. If approval is required, your request will be reviewed by SCACC staff before you are able to register for those shifts.

Programs

Programs help organize volunteer opportunities based on different areas of the shelter.

Examples include:

  • Orientation & Onboarding
  • Shelter Operations
  • Special Events
  • Marketing & Community Outreach

Selecting a program allows you to learn more about that area and browse volunteer opportunities associated with it.

Training & Qualifications

Some volunteer opportunities require training before participation.

Your training path includes:

  1. New Volunteer Orientation
  2. Level 1 Online Training
  3. Level 1 Quiz
  4. Shadow Shift
  5. Guided Training Shift

As you complete each step, additional volunteer opportunities will become available to you.

Checking In

When you arrive for your volunteer shift, please check in using the volunteer kiosk before beginning your activities.
